Cherry Beach In Toronto to Host Girls Sixes Provincials
The Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) is thrilled to announce that Cherry Beach in Toronto will host the Inaugural Girls Sixes Provincial Championship on Saturday, October 12, 2024. This groundbreaking event will bring together 22 teams from across Ontario, competing for the first-ever Girls Sixes Provincial titles across three age groups: U11, U13, and U17.
Sixes lacrosse, a high-energy, fast-paced format introduced by World Lacrosse, has been making waves globally, most notably as the version of lacrosse to be played at the Olympic Games. This one-day tournament will not only crown the best Sixes teams in Ontario but also provide a glimpse into the future of lacrosse on the international stage.
“This is a historic moment for girls' lacrosse in Ontario," said Peter Debrone, OLA Sixes Provincial Lead. “The level of excitement surrounding the inaugural Ontario Lacrosse Sixes season is immense, and we are looking forward to seeing the impact this format has on the continued growth of the sport for girls."
The tournament will feature round-robin play throughout the day, with champions being crowned by the end of the competition. Families and fans are invited to Cherry Beach to witness the beginning of what promises to be an exciting new tradition for Ontario Lacrosse.
